Communities taking lead in setting their development agenda

news

UMCOR, a key implementing partner of CSF has been engaging with community members in Aweil South to discuss their development priorities in an effort to build community resilience after  the prolonged crisis.  UMCOR has held a series of community dialogues involving community leaders, women, men as well as female and male youth and ensured that these meetings are as inclusive as possible and  that different perspectives have been captured in setting the community’s development agenda. It was interesting that women’s top development agenda was restoration of security while the felt that repairing water sources for animals was more urgent. Both female and male youth’s priority was increased  opportunities for income generation. The meetings facilitated by UMCOR enabled all segments of the community to come together and build consensus on their priority needs, which will be shared with the State Government as well as development partners working in the area.
